New SAM Cluster Recognized
The Center for Simulation and Modeling has been recognized for its recent hardware upgrade through Penguin Computing. Penguin developed a new turnkey high performance computing (HPC) solution for SAM's cluster. The Penguin Intel Nehalem-based 800-core Linux cluster has been added to the existing 116-node cluster and the two have been integrated using Penguin's Scyld cluster management software.
This significant upgrade has greatly increased the Center's computing power which is available to the Pitt community. The advance has been recogized by Penguin Computing in a news release on October 14, as well as in HPCwire. Read their complete articles by following these links.
